The Sunshine of Your Love

F21 tunic and leggings. Thrifted belt, bracelet, and ring. Minnetonka Moccasins.

It's pretty out again! Finally! And it's supposed to reach the 80s this weekend, which I'm super psyched about. Can't wait to see my family for a few days and enjoy the lovely weather!

I adore these moccasins, and now I really want the Ankle height fringe boots that Minnetonka also makes, preferably in the same color. These are seriously the most comfortable shoes I own!

Book of Lust

If you haven't checked out the Zara March lookbook yet, get your fashionable butt over to Nitrolicious or Zara.com and do it now. I'm telling you, if you're anything like me, you will fall in love.

I've already decided what it is that I need.

This hat is number one on my list. So Indiana Jones and fantastic.

what I believe is the most comfortable looking jumpsuit ever, and those fantastic wedge sandals.

The bag!

The jacket!

I would be so wardrobe content. The nearest Zara to me is not necessarily a hop skip and a jump...but I might have to make the trek this weekend when I return home to snatch up that hat...at the very least. Do you love this lookbook like I do?

Grunge Down

American Eagle skinny cords. Jessica Simpson boots. F21 tank and ring. Flannel thrifted by and stolen from boyfriend. Fossil watch. Gifted bracelet.

The 1990s were my childhood; literally from birth until age 9. And I wanted to be a grunge wearing girl like nobody's business. At some point after my super girly dressed-by-my-mom getups were things of the past and I began dressing myself regularly, I decided that I was a tomboy. My general uniform was tshirts and uncombed hair with jeans or shorts, depending on the season. I wanted to be a 90s grunge girl. But of course, as I entered my preteen years in the early new millenium, grunge faded out and I opted for girlier outfits as I discovered a new love - boys.

However, when I discovered this flannel shirt in boyfriend's closet, I had to have it. He thrifted it for a Hick theme party (I saw pictures of him wearing it with a Moutain Dew trucker hat, very funny) and he would have never worn it again in his life. You can't really tell in these pictures, but I buttoned it unevenly since it's a men's large and it looks better if I experiment like that, rather than just looking oversized. I considered belting it, but I decided that that made it less grunge and more cowgirl.

I'm disappointed in these Jessica Simpson boots, they did not age well. I should have expected it. Alas.

Pro-crastination.

Philosophers often hyphenate words to give them double or different meanings, and I've been seeing that a lot in my Philosophy of Place class this semester. In any case, I'm currently two pages away from finishing a Medieval Drama paper...but then I have to write a philosophy focus paper. Whatever. Naturally I was browsing the blogosphere and while I wasn't going to post again tonight, I just HAD to share.

I was poking around on Stardust and Sequins and saw this post about gunmetal rings at Leviticus Jewelry. Turns out I cannot afford these lovely gunmetal rings, but I ventured to their clearance section and there is so much that I want!

The pendant on this necklace is actually a brass saddle ornament. So cool!

Each of these necklaces are different because they're made with actual antique skeleton keys! I need one!

If you remember my listof wardrobe things for spring, statement necklaces were on there. I've been looking it's hard for me to find things I like, but I generally want them to be unique, and I can't spend a lot. If you have the same statement necklace philosophy, check this place out! The other jewelry is just as good, for you earring, bracelet, and ring lovers. I'm digging this "Shackle" bracelet and these "Sneaky Silver Bear" earrings.

You're Not Gonna Reach My Telephone

Had a killer weekend with boyfriend, but now I'm back and I need to go to the library and write two papers. I figured today's post then would be an inspiration post in the vein of Little Plastic Horses. Firstly, I can't get Gaga's "Telephone" out of my head, maybe because it was part of the dance party I partook in on Friday night.

Dresses from Atelier Versace that I'm obsessed with, I love gowns with armour-esq accents, if that makes sense.

I'm also obsessed with Natasha Poly and this particular editorial. Sometimes I want to be her.

The Miu Miu shoes that everyone is talking about..except this is the exact pair I want to own. I thought they were lovely but not for me until I saw this tan pair covered in puppies. I would wear them everywhere. I mean it.

A macabre photograph that reminds me of Hamlet. And rainy Spring days spent in your pajamas. Whatever, you don't have to understand my train of thought.

The Sincerest Form of Flattery

American Eagle short pants. Levi's denim shirt. Maurice's lace top. Thrifted belt. Wet Seal boots.

This is my first shot at the denim on denim trend, and as you can see I'm reaching in the D&G S/S 2010 direction. I told you how I fell in love with this collection here and trust that my love still burns with a fiery passion. I didn't tuck my shirt because generally I just hate to tuck, and I wanted to just give it a little bit of my own feel with the belted waist. I think these two denim pieces, which are lightyears cheaper than the D&G, work perfectly, but I would still kill for that lace mini dress and the fringe knee high boots in the aforementioned post. Or maybe even just the boots!! So much drooling.

These pants, I love these pants. Last summer I lived in my AE boyfriend short pants (albeit two sizes bigger) and I found the same pants, but in my new size, and for fifteen dollars, at Marshall's over Spring break. Do I care if they're a year old? No, because I love them.

Ah, and because I need to tell someone else, I had an intense discussion about the character of Lady Anne from Shakespeare's Richard III today, and I DO NOT think she is a weak person. She's a woman in a man's world, and one who is only 15-18 years old, who has had all her male protectors killed. You'd marry a douche too. End random rant that you don't care about.

P.S. sorry that the photos are kind of dark today!

Accepted!

Sam & Max dress. Target tights. UO flats. Thrifted belt and ring. Essie Mint Candy Apple nail polish.

Guess what lovelies? I'm going to be studying abroad in England in the fall! I just got an e mail this morning letting me know that I've been accepted. Posts from ENGLAND! Aren't you stoked?

Love this dress, but discovered that it is now a little big in the top which depresses me greatly. The belt makes it better. The sun has returned but it's chilly, so I decided to wear some leg covering. These tights are one of the several pairs my mother bought me for Christmas 08, and I adore them. I don't wear them too often because I'm often unsure if they'll work with whatever I want to pair them with, but when I do wear them I'm always excited.

I fell in love with this ring when I first tried it on and therefore I didn't realize it was kind of big. Scotch tape to the rescue. I always love cocktail rings with big fake gems that look like you found them in your quirky aunt's jewelry box.

Please Forgive Me

For the awful caliber of these pictures. I had to take them myself with the ten second timer on my canon powershot. I don't have any fancy photography materials like tripods or a camera that you actually use a tripod with. And I could never seem to find a roommate with free time when it was convenient for me.

Thrifted Zara blazer, gold chain bracelet, and ring. Forever 21 leggings. Mandee top and hoops. Hot Kiss boots (that you can't really see). Fossil watch. Gifted bracelet.

I also apologize for the terrible faces I'm making, because apparently I cannot properly smile for a ten second timer, AND for the second day hair. Last night I spent shower time working on a paper. I swear it doesn't look that gross in person though!

Andddd for a detour away from the self deprecation..I really dug this outfit, and so did several of my classmates in Theater History, which made me smile. Okay, I have lots of work to do now. Ciao!

Grey Shades

American Eagle Outfitters jeans. Forever 21 tank. Express cardigan. Mandee hoops.

So, I lied about not posting my outfit for today. It's because I sort of experimented with that cardigan (seen as I usually wear it here) and I liked it. I took some of my jewelry off before taking off the picture. Oh well.

These jeans are a bit big now, but I'm too broke to buy more. And I've been wearing my white Sperry rain boots that I abhor wearing because I abhor rain gear in general, so you just get to see my snazzy striped socks.

Guess what!? Got hired for a second job this summer! Hooray! That means I won't be broke when I go to England! Just felt like sharing. Ta!

Rain Rain...At Least You're Not Snow

This is going to be just a random post, because:

1) it's raining outside, and I'm wearing something like this if you really want to know.
2) I have a lot to do today and that prevented me from coming up with some sort of cool post idea.
3)I didn't want to deny you more posts after I already did yesterday, and my Saturday night outfit was lame, except for my hair, which you guys probably don't care about. But even if that is true:

Chyeah first curls of the season! So much better than last year now that my hair is longer. Yet, it needs to be longer still. Grow hair! Grow!

I'm thinking about visiting boyfriend this weekend, since I think after this heinous week (oh yes, it is going to be that bad), I'm going to need more relaxation that only he and his cuddling skills can provide. And that makes me want a new weekend bag, since I've never really bought one, and the one I use right now...well. Let me just show you.

I won it in a raffle after a 5k I ran, back when I used to run 5ks. I love watching boyfriend carry the lavender bag up the stairs when I visit, but I don't think it's very, um, aesthetically pleasing. I have however, kind of fallen in love with this Gola bag, which I can get at Gilt for a mere 30 dollars.

Ah but SO BROKE. I can afford it, but I need to establish that it will be useful in the future, since I don't think it will ship here in time for this weekend anyway. Um....

All I've got is that it's way more stylish than the above bag and my adidas duffle from my lacrosse days, and I'd just replace my adidas duffle with it. But that's merely an aesthetic replacement, not a necessary one, and when I'm broke I hate to waste.

Darn.

Bust.

old Charlotte Russe dress from Brianna. Calvin Klein tank. Mandee hoops. Thrifts bracelet. Havianas.

I'm going to be straight with you, this outfit = not awesome. I talked myself into going out when my roommates decided to go, even though I didn't want to. And like a loser, I came home early to crash because I was tired and grumpy. Whatever. But.

CHECK. THE. HAIR.

Googled how to curl your hair with a flat iron and to my shock, it actually works! You're looking at my first attempt so it isn't amazing but I don't think it's half bad! The thing is, my hair went flat after about two seconds of being in a humid frat house, so it's not exactly an ideal look for summer. Still, with some more product and skill, it's a new thing I can do with my hair! Hooray!

Flip Flop note: it's a FRAT house. There is stuff on that floor that you do not want on your nice heels. Ahem.

People on the road honked at us while we took these.

Thrifted skirt, flower necklace, and bracelet. Wet Seal necklace. Forever 21 tee. UO flats.

I got these flats last fall, and I don't think I've worn them since last school year. Not because they aren't adorable, because they are, but I kind of have a tendency to trip and fall in them. Like, in the middle of the street. I think it's because they're a little big? But I braved the falling possibility today.

I decided to enjoy the sun yesterday and right after my classes I walked into town and visited some of the antique shops, where I snagged this bracelet, necklace, and a ring not shown. And guess what? I HAGGLED! For the first time ever! I was proud of myself, I've never done that before. I also got chocolate chip ice cream in a pretzel cone? It sounds weird I know, it did to me too, but it was absolutely delicious.

Note the pretty daffodils I talked about yesterday! Yay!

Chillin

Today, I actually don't have a million things due tomorrow, so I had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather, check out some of the antique shops in town, and post another blog! Huzzah!

Last night, while I was despairing about the paper I was supposed to be writing, I was surfing the interwebs, reading LOTS of blogs, and checking out clothes, of course. I finally gave myself the incentive that I could order myself something fairly inexpensive if I got through all the work I need to do in the next week, but I now I can't choose what that will be! I need your help!

First, I was led to We Love Colors that not only has an astounding selection of color tights, also has these need splatter leggings:

Photos via We Love Colors

I think these are really fun and funky, I can't say I've seen anyone around here wearing anything like them, and they would work with my whole "tunic shirt, short leggings" thing that I'm doing sometimes now. They'd cost me $29 plus shipping.

But then, there was also Forever 21...

Photos via Forever 21

I love this simple maxi dress, and I think it's a perfect canvas for some cool accessories and blazers this Spring, as well as being a good basic. The drawstring bag I think is cool and a little tough as well as being super "now", and it's on sale. My forever 21 total would be 26.89 plus tax.

So what do you think? Which ones? Or neither?

We're Going Nowhere Fast

Forever 21 tunic, leggings, and double finger ring. Guess jean jacket. Fossil Watch. Gifted bracelet and flower ring. Oscar de la Renta sunglasses. Havianas flip flops. American Eagle Outfitters key necklace. Random tree necklace.

Even warmer today! The flowers in the beds that are in front of the hall across from my window are starting to bloom. They're daffodils. It has to be Spring, daffodils wouldn't lie to me!

The whole tunic with leggings thing was not a look I had considered until my mother told me that she thought it would be an easy look for me while on campus in the Spring time. (I taught her so well!) I kind of love it. The minty green of this tunic is one of my favorite colors to wear, and I like the sort of purpley grey of these leggings.

I've had this Guess jean jacket since...well since 7th or 8th grade. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it, it has the perfect amount of stretch, it's the perfect length, and I like the wash. It serves me well both in the spring and the fall, and has paid for itself a million times over. These sunglasses are also old..I stopped wearing them because they didn't fit my face anymore and then I put them on over winter break and they magically fit again? I don't know. I actually found a pair of Cole Haan aviators at Marshall's over break, but I didn't want to bring them back to campus because I was sure I'd break them! You'll see them in the summer.

So, I don't think flip flops count as fashion in some people's eyes, but my Havianas are my best friends in the warm weather. I also don't have any great spring shoes yet...and I really killed my feet in my brown booties yesterday. So flip flops it is!
