And all the Boards did sink.

I adore the hot weather, and I adore the beach.  Yesterday was rather deliciously hot and sticky, and boyfriend and I headed over to Waywayanda State Park for our first beach outing of the season.  I don't know if it's really a legitimate beach, since we're talking about a lake, but most of the neighborhoods here in our town are lake communities and everyone calls the lake "the beach."  So whatever.

I wore my amazing-bought-for-less-than-ten-dollars Victoria's Secret bikini and a sassy zebra print romper as a cover up, along with my trusty Havianas.  Searching for a beach cover up has never been something I spend a lot of time on, I mean, they just come off right away anyway!  But that doesn't mean I haven't envisioned the ideal one once or ten times.

My ideal cover up is a tunic, low cut, filmy, maybe a little sparkly.  It's a cover up by name, but really, you're not really covering up too much since you can see your bikini right through it.  I think I got this idea in my head after seeing Blake Lively in a gold one on some episode of Gossip Girl that I watched once, which must've been a million years ago, since I never watch Gossip Girl.  ANYWAY.

This Badgley Mischka version found on Bluefly is the ideal.  Perfect deep V, perfect color, perfectly see-through.  And ridiculously expensive.

This Topshop version is strikingly similar, and half the price, but I'm not really digging this seaweed green color, which is the only color it comes in, apparently.
This Billabong version is cute and it has something the other two don't have: sequins!  Still, I wish the sleeves were flowy-er and the neckline deeper.

Thus far, this is all my search has rendered, and none look like I'll be snapping them up anytime soon.  Does anyone know where I can find my perfect cover up?

Summer Nights

Alright, I am not a huge fan of the Spring.  I don't love how the weather fluctuates between 90 degrees and hot and gorgeous and then wet and rainy and chilly.  I can't wait until the weather is hot and gorgeous all day and all night.  That means really cute date outfits!

I'm super broke, so when I found this dress on Forever 21's website for $14.50, I was pretty thrilled.  It's so perfectly boho and comfy looking.  I perused the website for the perfect accessories to complete it.

I like the idea of pairing a boho dress with some hot sandals instead of flat gladiators, some turquoise and silver jewelry, and a funky blue bag for a pop of color.  Plus, the entire outfit comes in under $100 which is always good!

Eat Your Heart Out

Forever 21 dress. Thrifted belt. Deena & Ozzy clutch via UO. Gifted necklaces.  Random bangle. Mandee sandals.

Tonight I went to see my little brother play in the high school band spring concert.  Because I was a huge band geek in high school, and because many of little brother's fellow band members are the younger siblings of the band geeks of my high school years, it is guaranteed that I will run into people that I know at such an event.  Thus, I dress to impress, or to garner snarky comments, whichever.

Normally I don't do twee very well, and I was iffy about this dress even after I brought it home and outfitted it in front of my own mirror, but I finally decided that the simple cut and the tribal-esq print make it less twee and more me.  The belt also definitely makes it better.

I got these sandals on sale at Mandee the other day when I just went in to peruse.  I love my Frye gladiators to death, but I was feeling deficient in the sandal area, and I loved the bright blue color and the $17.99 price tag on these.  I also knew they would look great with this dress!

Told you from the start.

It was raining on the day that I actually wore this outfit, pouring.  And I had no desire to dress for the weather (except for the rain shell thrown on over my outfit).  I was talking to someone today and she pointed out that sometimes the rain just makes you want to be pretty, almost in defiance of the grey day.  I think that's how I felt this morning when i decided on heels and coral.

Michael by Michael Kohrs pumps. Zara blazer. Random top found at Marshall's. American Eagle Outfitter's skinny jeans.  Fossil watch. Cole Haan aviators.

Kimberly and I had a photo shoot outside my house.  It was quite a lot of fun, and I can't wait until next time!

Working Girl.

F 21 shirt.  Thrifted Gap short pants and belt.  Charles by Charles David flats. Fossil watch.

I put this outfit together for work, and then when I drove the 45 minutes to work, I found out that I was on call and that I was not needed.  Fail, Aimee.  It was just as good for going to the mall and dinner with my family, luckily.  We went to The Exchange in Rockaway for dinner, and I had the most amazing steak salad for dinner.  I also got a new cartilage piercing that I've been wanting, yay!

I've had these flats for almost a year now, and this was the first time I actually wore them.  That's because I bought them for dressy times when I need more demure footwear...and then I never had one of those times this year.  I'm obsessed with this green belt but I wore it a little too tight that day and was in a bit of pain later, oops!

Date Night

Not the movie, my life.  Well, maybe the movie, I'm not sure what boyfriend and I are doing post dinner yet, since I told him that it was up to him.  However, I am really looking forward to our first date night of the summer, and lots of great food!

Thrifted H&M skirt and Michael by Michael Kohrs shoes.  Fossil tank.  Gifted bracelet and necklaces.  LuShae ring.

It was finally sunny and warm again today, and I wanted to embrace the gorgeous weather while still looking a little more dressed up than usual.  This tank has been working overtime, I love it.  I also always feel like a bombshell in a pencil skirt that hugs my curves.  It makes me want to dye my hair red and style it seductively over one eye, like this:

Unfortunately I lack Jessica Rabbit's...assets.  Her waist is so small it is humanely impossible.  Amongst other things.

Hope your weekend dates are lovely!

I've been hungry all day.

I think it's because I ate so much junk during finals, and now I'm feeling my body properly, as well as working out again, and I'm ravenous.  I could really use an iced peach white mocha and a cake.

It's hard for me to be inspired when it's grey and cold and rainy here in Jersey.  I was spoiled by finals week being gorgeous (even if I spent most of it in the library).  Currently, I don't exactly miss campus, but I do miss my weekend opportunities to have fun.  And I loveeeee going out clothes.  I think this is because when you go out, you get to be obvious with your clothes.  I want whatever I'm wearing to unabashedly say "I'm young, I'm cute, and I want to have fun, ya dig?"  Toward's the end of the semester, I was getting kind of bored with my selection for my Friday and Saturday nights.  Here are some things I'd add for the summer...if there was anywhere to wear them.

4. Asos
5. Asos

Cute but interesting tops that aren't too fussy and body con dresses with sparkle, mesh, and sheen.  These aren't exactly standout pieces, but finding me is easy, I'll probably be in the middle of the dance floor.

I'm Baaaaaccckk!

So last night, I had a dream that I was wearing overalls.  Not just any overalls, overalls that I distinctly remember owning and wearing in...the fourth grade?  And these weren't short overalls (I owned those too though), these were full on, I'm-wearing-more-denim-than-anyone-ever-needs-to-wear overalls.  I loved them.  I have no idea what happened to them.  I probably grew out of them, considering not long after that my hips started to show up.  In any case, I was super proud of my overalls outfit, but I'm going to tell you right now, the shoes were heinous.  In any case, I realized upon waking that I have been away from this blog for too long, and it's time to be back.

Express cardigan. American Eagle jeans.  Joyce Leslie belt.  Rue 21 tank top.  Bakers shoes.

Unfortunately, just because I'm back doesn't mean you get something spectacular, or cracktacular (like overalls).  I apologize.  This happens to be the first day since...my last post when I've needed to be presentable, and it happens to be my first official day of work at a tween store, therefore over the top isn't an option.

I also apologize that the only thing I seem to wear is this cardigan, but it's COLD again.  50 degrees cold.  Ridiculous.

I'm also supposed to tell you that Dad was today's photographer, and that he did finally fix our wireless internet.

ANYWAY, I hope you're ready for a fabulous summer, because I am.  I can't listen to anything but dance music and I'm considering selling my soul for some sun and higher temperatures.  Boyfriend will be home tomorrow, plans with friends soon, work work work, renewed my gym membership for the summer, all good things.  Caio for now dears!
